This luminous Illusion Glass work captures the exquisite grace of a camellia in full bloom, its petals and leaves rendered with delicate precision against a serene backdrop. Hand-painted with specialized European enamel glass paints that fuse permanently to the surface upon firing, the camellia glows with rich depth and subtle gradients—vibrant and translucent when natural light passes through from behind, and richly painterly when viewed in ambient indoor light on its stand, like a framed botanical study brought to life.
The circular composition is framed in traditional lead came construction, accented by hand-twisted copper wirework that forms elegant tendrils and organic supports. The piece is suspended from a custom copper hanging element and rests above a flared, bowl base, customized glass bowl creating a sense of gentle downward flow and quiet abundance. The overall effect is one of timeless floral reverence: petals that catch and hold light by day, and a painted presence that endures softly in evening glow.
