Chihuly-Inspired Jellyfish Drifting Beneath a Netted Canopy
This extra-large nautical mobile was created as a special commission to celebrate the arrival of our friends’ first grandbaby. From our studio in Folsom, Louisiana, the piece features a unique scrollwork wooden hanger suspending a decorative and authentic netted canopy. Beneath it drift four miniature versions of our original Chihuly-inspired sea urchin jellyfish, each handcrafted with flowing tentacles and iridescent details.
Six embellished and resin-sealed genuine starfish, along with three iridescent clownfish, add playful sea life to the composition. A suspended crab rests inside a fishing net, while multiple beadwork strands and European crystals catch and reflect light. A golden metal seahorse carries a gorgeous 50mm aurora borealis water drop crystal that sparkles in the sunlight. Strings of multicolor fabric “seagrass” add soft texture and gently encircle the underwater scene.
Measuring approximately 3 feet long by 1.5 feet wide, this impressive mobile turns slowly with the breeze, transforming light and air into a living underwater ballet. Designed to transition beautifully from nursery to other spaces in the home, it brings color, movement, and oceanic wonder wherever it hangs.
While created as a one-of-a-kind commission, we welcome similar custom orders that celebrate new life with nautical or ocean themes.
