Sea Turtle Illusion Glass
Silent Passage Through Painted Depths
Graceful Sea Turtle
Swimming Through Light and Water
From our studio in Folsom, Louisiana, this original Sea Turtle Illusion Glass captures the serene beauty of the Gulf waters. Hand-painted and leaded with delicate nautical details, the turtle glides among soft waves and through translucent depths, feeding among drifting jellyfish while a distant boat passes in hushed silhouette against the horizon. Hand-painted with specialized European glass paints that fuse permanently to the surface, the turtle’s shell and surrounding waters shimmer with layered color and light—creating an illusion of fluid motion and living ocean memory. The translucent glass allows daylight to illuminate the scene with a luminous glow, while ambient indoor light reveals it as a painterly artwork.
The piece is framed in traditional lead came construction, accented by hand-twisted copper nautical knots that evoke rope and rigging. It rests on a customized blown glass base filled with clear epoxy and scattered with iridescent glass fragments that catch and reflect ambient light. The copper hanging hook and stand complete the composition, allowing the work to float gently in space.
A quiet meditation on the Gulf’s enduring grace, this piece invites viewers to linger—watching light move through painted water as if witnessing the scene itself unfold in real time.
