Crawfish Illusion Glass - Bayou Defender in Painted Fury
Louisiana Crawfish in Full Defensive Glory
From our studio in Folsom, Louisiana, this luminous Crawfish Illusion Glass captures the fierce, proud stance of a Louisiana crawfish in full defensive glory. Claws raised, tail curled, and body tensed, it stands ready to protect its territory with unyielding power. Hand-painted with specialized European enamel glass paints that fuse permanently to the surface upon firing, the crawfish glows with rich depth and vivid intensity. Emerald greens, fiery reds, deep oranges, and subtle metallic golds create an illusion of living strength and bayou bravado suspended in glass.
The circular composition is framed in traditional lead came construction and accented by hand-twisted copper wirework that forms elegant, organic tendrils and supports. Crystal and glass bead embellishments add subtle sparkle and rhythmic balance. The piece is suspended from a custom copper hanging element and rests above a customized bowl base, evoking the muddy, vibrant depths of Louisiana’s swamps.
Designed with a deliberate dual nature, it reveals its full magic in two lights: radiant and translucent when natural daylight shines through from behind, unveiling vibrant depth and illusion; painterly and richly atmospheric when viewed in ambient indoor light or shade, appearing as a glowing, hand-painted composition suspended in time.
Created through more than 40 hours of meticulous handwork, every Crawfish Illusion Glass is a singular original. Natural variations in glass, pigment, and light refraction ensure that no two pieces are ever identical.
Dimensions: Approximately 4” diameter (glass panel), total height including hanging and base ~16–18”.
Materials: Hand-cut art glass, lead came and solder, European enamel glass paints, hand-twisted copper wire, crystal and glass beads, custom formed base.
Price: $375
Serious inquiries welcome. Message for additional photos, custom variations, or shipping details. Each piece emerges after more than 40 hours of meticulous handwork and remains a unique original.
