From our studio in Folsom, Louisiana, this luminous Damselfly Illusion Glass is born from quiet moments in our own garden. It captures the delicate grace of damselflies dancing through the air, their iridescent wings catching fleeting jewels of motion and color as they softly land on blue flowers. Hand-painted with specialized European enamel glass paints that fuse permanently upon firing, the damselfly, its shimmering wings, and the surrounding foliage glow with rich depth and lifelike vibrancy. Tangerine accents, citrine highlights, emerald greens, royal blues, and swirling purple hues weave an illusion of living flight suspended in glass.
The diagonal composition is framed in traditional lead came construction and accented by hand-twisted copper wirework that forms elegant, organic tendrils and supports. Eleven European crystals and carefully selected glass and crystal beads add subtle sparkle and narrative completion. The piece is suspended from a custom copper hanging element and rests above a flared, customized bowl base, evoking a gentle downward flow of beauty and lightness.
Designed with a deliberate dual nature, it reveals its full magic in two lights: radiant and translucent when natural daylight shines through from behind, unveiling vibrant depth and illusion of motion; painterly and richly atmospheric when viewed in ambient indoor light or shade, appearing as a glowing, hand-painted composition suspended in time.
