From our studio in Folsom, Louisiana, this luminous Wood Duck Illusion Glass is drawn from quiet mornings at our own pond, where a vibrant wood duck glides among the cattails and reeds, its iridescent plumage catching the soft light. Hand-painted with specialized European enamel glass paints that fuse permanently to the surface upon firing, the duck, its distinctive crest, bold white markings, and multicolored feathers glow with rich depth and lifelike presence. Emerald greens, deep burgundies, crisp whites, warm chestnuts, and subtle golds create an illusion of serene, living grace suspended in glass.
The circular composition is framed in traditional lead came construction and accented by hand-twisted copper wirework that forms elegant, organic tendrils and supports echoing the reeds and water’s gentle flow. Crystal and glass bead embellishments in complementary tones add gentle sparkle and rhythmic balance. A tiny beaded and painted metal duck charm dangles beneath.
